고속도로가 생기면서 유령 마을로 변해가던 마을이 자동차를 주차시키면서 친환경 관광명소로 가듭났습니다.
매연으로 숨쉬기조차 힘든 네팔의 수도 카트만두. 매일 맑은 공기를 찾아 관광객들이 길을 떠납니다. 목적지는 자동차 운행이 전면 금지된 산 정상의 마을 반디푸르인데요. 마을 입구에서 버스가 멈취 섭니다. 관광객들은 무거운 짐을 끌고 도보 여행을 시작합니다.
이 마을은 카트만두로 통하는 고속도로가 생기면서 유령 마을로 전락할 위기에 놓였습니다. 그러나 자동차 운행 금지라는 친환경 정책으로 관광명소로 다시 태어났습니다.
쓰러져 가던 낡은 주택들을 전통 방식으로 개조했습니다. 관광객들에게 풍성한 불거리가 됐죠. 숙박업소들도 일회용 플라스틱 사용을 금지했습니다. 식당에서도 텃밭에서 직접 기른 채소만 사용합니다. 주민들의 친환경 노력이 새로운 관광 명소를 탄생시켰습니다.
