I found these stickers in artbox yesterday, there all popular phrases or new words. *(except the shark one, If I’m not mistaken that’s just a cute shark pun)

Some more pessimistic/realistic slang/신조어, related to work:

메신저감옥 – “messenger prison” – that feeling when you’re hostage to the work messages coming in on your Kakao after hours. 

월급로그아웃 “salary logout” – when your wages are gone the minute they hit your account because of all the payments you have to make.

사축 “company livestock” – a play on “가축” (livestock). workers whose companies treat them like livestock.

실어증 – literally means aphasia, but now a play on words meaning “일하기 싫어하는 증세” ie the Monday blues, workitis.

야근각 – that feeling where you know you’re going to have to work overtime.

시간제 refers to working on an hourly basis rather than a yearly wage contract. I.e this is what part-time and casual working staff do. 

시간제로 일하면 then you receive 시급 (hourly wage) as your form of compensation. 

If however you’re working on a yearly contract then your form of compensation is 월급 (salary) – it literally means monthly pay/wage (most people in Korea who work yearly contracts receive their salaries monthly). 

보수 (wages, salary, remuneration) includes both meanings of 시급 and 월급.
