ㅂㅁㄱ or 병먹금 are short for 병신에게 먹이 금지 and are an internet slang meaning “to ignore mean persons/idiots”.

Some people engage in 어그로 (Aggro, short for Aggravation), a behavior in which they are being disrespectful in order to bring the attention to themselves. You should just 병먹금 these people.

So now I know the Korean for “don’t feed the trolls”.

Their textbook had a part about texting abbreviations so i asked my middle schoolers to teach me some Korean ones. Here are the interesting ones I’ve collected that I didn’t know before. I couldn’t get more because that’s when i was hospitalized but here’s the best from the classes i did teach:

버카충 – charging your bus card (버스 카드 충전)

세젤예/세젤귀- most beautiful/cutest in the world ( 세상에 제일 예쁜/귀여운)

낄끼빠빠 – Know when to get involved and when to stay out of it AKA have some nunchi bitch (낄때 끼고 빠질때 빠

져라)

셤- test (시험)

아점 – brunch (아침겸점심)

걸크러쉬 – badass girl who will crush you / strong type

생선 – bday gift (생일 선물)

존못 – freaking/fucking ugly (존나 못생겼다)

존잘 – freaking/fucking handsome (존나 잘생겼다)

Slang/abbreviations

훈남/훈녀 = Warm man/woman. (훈훈하다 = warm, heartwarming)

미남/미녀 = Beautiful man/woman (미 = beauty)

알바 – part-time job (아르바이트)

열공 = study hard (열심히 공부하다)

찌질이 = Loser (지질하다 = good for nothing, worthless)

왜케 = why so ….? (왜 이렇게)

밥맛이다 = obnoxious (밥맛없다 (makes you lose your appetite))

짠돌이/짠순이 = someone who is stingy (짜다 =salty)

한입/모금 = One bite/sip

식후땡 = cigarette after a meal (식사 + 후 + 유행어)

웃프다 = sad and funny at the same time (슬프다 + 웃기다)

느끼하다 = Greasy (used for food and men)

이빨 까지마, 뻥 치지마 = Don’t lie!

술고래 = someone who drinks a lot ( 고래 = whale)

밀당 = push and pull (밀다 and 당기다)

문자(를) 씹다 = ignore a text (씹다 = chew up)

맥주병 = someone who can’t swim (is a beer bottle, floats like a bottle in water)

웃기지마! = bullshit! (lit. don’t make me laugh)

악플 = bad reply (악성 리플) on the internet 악플을 달다 = to leave a negative comment.

프사 = 프로필 사진
