can you tell us which sites or course books you used? thank you

I used the TalkToMeInKorean and HowToStudyKorean lessons and later the Berkley Language Site. These sites will give you a strong foundation in grammar and basic vocabulary.

Lang-8 for writing practice and meeting language exchange partners (this is very important!) also the HelloTalk app and sharedtalk.com.

Honestly I learnt most by just chatting to people and googling grammar points I didn’t know which came up in conversation, this usually led to explanations on the sites mentioned above and also koreanwikiproject, sydneytoseoul and koreangrammarproject which are all very helpful.

Here are some other resources I’ve used.

Youtube resources

I want to thank you about your hard working to teach Korean for alot of people and Im one of them ♥but since Im new in learning Korean can you please mention the pronounciation with the words and the sentences?!

hi, i’m really glad you find the site helpful! although actually it was never my intention for these posts to teach people, i just use this blog for my personal study notes.

using romanisation at the very beginning might be helpful but your pronunciation will be much more natural if you learn it from the hangul. don’t feel daunted, hangul isn’t too hard to learn!

when i first started korean i read this infographic. the pronunciation isn’t always this simple though, so i don’t suggest relying on this completely, but it was very helpful for me initially to remember the pronunciation through images (ie. ㄷ looks like a door and sounds like D.)

there are lots of videos on youtube which will help you with pronunciation. this is a really good series from koreanclass101 but there are tons more if you want to take a look. there are also full series of lessons on hangul at howtolearnkorean and koreanwikiproject here and here.

having said all this, the majority of the content i post here is from talktomeinkorea, and they include romanisation in the pdfs of all their lessons anyway so if you want to read them you can head over there. they make great content and if you’re learning grammar i would always suggest checking them out anyway if you haven’t already!
