Gyeongbokgung Palace
창덕궁은 좀 더 유명한 경복궁 옆에 있는데 경복궁보다 조금 더 볼 만한 것 같아요. 경복궁도 정말 좋지만 창덕궁에는 볼 것이 더 많고 아주 예뻐서 구경하기가 좋아요. 건물들은 땅의 모양에 따라 자연스럽게 지어져 있고 경복궁보다 좀 더 오래된 건물도 아직 남아 있어요.Changdeokgung Palace is next to the slightly more popular Gyeongbokgung Palace, but I think it’s a little better. Gyeongbokgung is really good but Changdeokgung has a lot to see and is really beautiful. The buildings are built naturally into the surroundings and some much older buildings still remain there.
바다 옆에서 사람들이 불꽃을 쏴올리고 있었는데 아주 놀랐어요. 확실하지 않지만 영국에서는 공공장소에서 불꽃을 쏴올리는 게 불법인 것 같아요. 아무튼 그런 상황은 처음 봤어요. 사실 불꽃이 사람들이 쉬는 곳과 아주 가깝고 불꽃이 많아서 저는 이거 위험하지 않을까 좀 걱정했어요. 그래도 정말 재미있는 관경이었고 우리도 몇 개 사서 쏴올렸어요….
I was really surprised to see people were setting off fireworks all along the beach. I’m not certain but I’m pretty sure it’s illegal to set off fireworks in public places in the UK? At least, I had never seen a sight like that. Honestly it was kinda scary to have that many fireworks going off so close to people, it seemed pretty dangerous. On Sunday morning we got up and went to go swimming and rest on the beach. I fell in love with the Korean ocean as soon as I touched the water. If this is the West sea, how good is the East sea?! I’ve swam in the ocean a lot in the UK, but never felt warm water like that….
토요일 아침에 우리가 차 내비게이션으로 목적지 검색하고 출발했어요. 차가 많이 막혀서 인천에 가는 데 오래 걸렸지만 바다 보였을 때는 기분이 좋았어요. ‘곧 다리를 건너겠구나’라고 얘기했는데 다리는 없었어요. 대체 어디서 다리 놓쳤을까 얘기했는데 알고 보니 내비게이션에 길을 잘 못 찍어서 카페리를 타는 길을 골랐다는 걸 깨달았어요….

을왕리 해수욕장 | Eurwangni Beach
도착해서 1시간이나 해변을 산책하면서 일몰을 봤어요. 수영하기엔 너무 추웠지만 바다도 하늘도 너무 예뻐서 다음날도 또 놀고싶었어요. 많은 사람들이 텐트를 세우고 고기를 구워 먹고 있었어요. 맛있는 냄새가 나서 우리도 밥 먹으러 가자고 했어요. 먹을 것 사러 마트 들렀다가 펜션에 갔어요…
When we arrived we walked along the beach for an hour or so and watched the sunset. It was too cold to swim then, but the sea and sky looked beautiful so we got excited about visiting again the next day. Lots of people had set up tents and were barbecuing on the beach. It looked delicious, so we decided to go get dinner ourselves…
영국 해수욕장과 캠핑 | East Prawle & Gara Rock Beach
제가 전날에 영국으로 돌아와서 시차에 아직 적응하지 못했어요. 그래도 2년만에 만난 우리 작은 오빠가 캠핑 가자고 했을 때 제가 거질 할 수 없었어요. 작음 오빠는 남아메리카에서 살아서 자주 보기 힘들고 추억을 만들고 싶었거든요. 제가 영국에 도착해서 런던에서 비행기 내려왔을 때도 날씨가 좋은 것 많이 놀랐는데 주말내내 날씨 엄청 덥고 좋았어요.
I had only returned to the UK the previous day so I was still jet-lagged, but I couldn’t say no when my brother who I hadn’t seen in 2 years invited me camping. He lives in South America so it’s hard for us to meet and I wanted to spend time with him. When I first arrived and got off the plane in London I was very shocked to see the weather was so nice, but it stayed nice and hot that entire weekend.
타워 높이가 500미터 이상이고 123층까지 올라갈 수 있어요. 한국에서 제일 빠른 엘리베이터를 타고 올라가서 몇 초밖에 안 걸려요. 위의 3개 층에 전망대가 있고 자기가 원하는 만큼 시간을 자유롭게 보낼 수 있어요.
저녁에 놀러가서 해가 지는 것을 보고 야경도 잠깐 본 다음에 떠났어요. 여기서 서울 구경하는 게 좋았고 드디어 하늘이 맑은 날에 서울에 가서 서울을 더 예쁘게 보게 된 것 같아요.
The tower is over 500 metres tall and you can go up to the 123rd floor. Ride the ‘fastest elevator in Korea’ and it’ll take you a matter of seconds to reach the top. The ‘Seoul Sky’ observation decks occupy the top three floors and you can spend your time there freely.
We went in the evening and stayed to watch the sun set and the lights of Seoul’s night view light up. This place gave a great view of Seoul, and I think I saw a much prettier side of the city after finally visiting on a day with clear skies.
몇개월 동안 어디 놀러갈 시간이 없었는데 드디어 오랜만에 주말 여행 갔다 왔어요. 홍천의 오션월드(Ocean World)에 놀러 갔다가, 예쁜 목재 펜션에서 잤어요. 다음날 집에 가는 길에 산길을 통해 드라이브 하고, 계곡 강변에서 쉰 다음, 연꽃 축제를 보러 두물머리 들렸어요.
After not going anywhere since spring we finally got away for a weekend. We went to Hongcheon(홍천) to visit the Ocean World water park, spent the night in a cute cabin-style pension, and took a long detour on our way home to drive through the mountains, sit by the river, and see the Lotus Flower Festival at Dumulmeori(두물머리).
코엑스 아쿠아리움 & 남산타워 | COEX Aquarium & Namsan Tower
아쿠아리움을 좋아하는 편인데 한국에서 아쿠아리움에 간 적이 없어서 남친이랑 코엑스 아쿠아리움에 가기로 했어요. 다 이미 알겠지만, 한국에서 아주 잘 된 것 중에 하나는 엔터테인먼트에요. 아쿠아리움에서도 물고기를 보는 것일 뿐만아니라 즐거운 오락거리도 많아요
I love aquariums, and not having ever been to one in Korea, my boyfriend and I decided to go to COEX Aquarium. It’s common knowledge now, but one thing Korea does really well is entertainment, and even this aquarium has far more to keep you entertained than just aquatic animals.
