This sentence ending may suggest a mild command – ‘please; why don’t you?’ – in addition to the meaning ‘and (also)’ .

난 단지 당신이 이건 영원할거라고 이야기 해줬으면 해요 = I just want you to tell me that it’s forever.
내가 정말 잘못 했다라는걸 당신이 알아 줬으면 해요 = I need you to know that I’m really sorry.
그에게 말해줬으면 해요 = I need you to tell him.
앞으로는 혼자 가지 말았으면 해요 = Don’t go there alone anymore.
그렇게 거짓말 안했으면 해 = I don’t want you to lie like that.
오늘은 꼭 수리해 줬으면 해요 = I want you to fix it today.
손님의 입장에서 생각했으면 해요 = Think about it from the customers perspective.
나는 네가 행복했으면 해 = I want you to be happy

~(으)렴, ~(으)려무나 = soft/endearing imperative

(only for children/people much younger than you)

나가렴 = Go on, get out of here
마음대로 하려무나 = Do as you please
내 사전을 쓰고 싶으면 쓰려무나 = Use my dictionary if you want.
이제 가서 자려무나 = You had better go to bed now.

말고 – don’t do this… do this, not A but B
말다 – to not do don’t intend to do + 고 – and

우유 말고 커피 주세요 – milk no, give me coffee
이거 말고 저거 살게요 = Not this one, but that one over there, I will buy it.

걱정하지 말고 그냥 해 봐요 = Don’t worry and just give it a try
늦지 말고 일찍 오세요 = Don’t be late, come early.

전화하지 말고 문자 메시지 보내 주세요 = Don’t call me, send me a text message.

저 기다리지 말고 먼저 가도 돼요 = Don’t wait for me. You can go first
차가운 물에 넣지 말고 뜨거운 물에 넣으세요 = Don’t put it in cold water but put it in hot water.
내일은 여기 말고 다른 곳에서 만날 거예요 = Tomorrow, we are going to meet NOT here BUT in a different place.= Tomorrow we are going to meet at a different place instead of here.
지금 사지 말고 조금만 기다리세요 = Don’t buy it now and wait just a little while

V ~고 말고(요) – of course, goes without saying

오늘 날씨가 춥고 말고 = It surely is cold today.
미국에 도착하면 편지를 쓰고 말고요 = Of course I’ll write to you when I get to the United States.
카를로스군은 사람이 부지런하고 말고 = Carlos surely is a diligent fellow.

verb ~(으)라고 verb – quoted imperative

조용히 하라고 말해 주세요 = Please tell them/him/her to be quiet.
걱정하지 말라고 했어요 = (sub) told (ob) not to worry
누가 가라고 했어요? = Who told you/her/him/them to go?
어디로 오라고 했어요? = Where did (sub) ask (ob) to come?
효진 씨한테 주라고 했어요 = (sub) told (ob) to give this to Hyojin.
