소문에 의하면 그 남자는 아내랑 이혼했어요 = According to rumors, he divorced his wife
그 사람에 의하면 가게에 도착하고 싶다면 이 쪽으로 가야 돼요 = According to that person, we need to go that way to get to the store

~(으)로 인하다 = Due to, As a result of

그 사람은 사고로 인해 목숨을 잃었어요 = That person died from (due to/as a result of) a car accident
저는 야외모임을 비로 인해 취소했어요 = I cancelled the meeting outside due to/as a result of the rain
날씨로 인해 콘서트가 취소되었습니다 = The concert was cancelled due to/as a result of the weather
호우로 인한 홍수 = a flood due to heavy rain
지진으로 인한 피해 = damage due to an earthquake

~는 바람에 = because of, as a result of (negative result of an unexpected cause, idiomatic meaning lit ‘in the wind of…’)

(use only with action verbs (descriptive verbs can be used in action form ~어/아지다),

can only use with past tense (and tense only applied to the second clause)

비가 오는 바람에 옷이 다 젖었다 = It rained and my clothes got soaked

화산이 터지는 바람에 3명이 사망했다.= 3 people were killed on the account of the volcano erupting.
사고가 나는 바람에 늦었다.= I was late because of an accident.
눈이 오는 바람에 길이 미끄러웠다.= It snowed and (as a result) the streets were slippery.

당신 덕분에 시험을 잘 보냈다 = I did well at the exam because of you.
덕분에 즐거운 시간을 보냈어요 = Thanks I had a lovely time.
김 선생님 덕분에 모두 잘 있었습니다 = Thanks to Mr. Kim it all went well.
보내 주신 초콜릿과 꽃 덕분에 기분이 좋아졌어요 = The chocolate and flowers that you sent made me feel better.
당신의 도움 덕분에 많은 것을 기억할 수 있습니다 = Thanks to your help I can remember a lot now.

장학금을 받는 덕분에 수 계속 공부할 있습니다 = thanks to receiving a scholarship i can continue my studies.
그것은 모두 대단한 성공작이었다. 열심히 일한 덕분이었다 = It was all a great success. Thanks to a lot of hard work.
어제 비가 온 덕분에 아침 공기가 보통 때보다 더욱 신선했다 = Thanks to yesterday’s rain, the morning air was fresher than usual. 
친구 가 차를 태워준 덕분에 편하게 왔어요 = thanks to my friend giving me a lift i arrived comfortably.

때문 – reason

verb ~기 때문에 – because (same as ~아/어/여서)

Past Tense: ~했기 때문에
Future Tense: ~ㄹ 것이기 때문에

갔기 때문에 – Because I went
덥기 때문에 – Because it’s hot
예뻤기 때문에 – Because it was pretty

저는 배고파서 밥을 먹고 싶어요 – I’m hungry, therefore, I want to eat
저는 배고프기 때문에 밥을 먹고 싶어요 – I want to eat because I am hungry
저는 행복하기 때문에 죽고 싶지 않아요 – I don’t want to die because I am happy
지금 공부를 하고 있기 때문에 너랑 통화하고 싶지 않아 – I don’t want to talk with you on the phone because I’m studying now
내가 밥을 벌써 먹었기 때문에 지금 먹고 싶지 않아 – Because I already ate, I don’t want to eat now
저는 시험을 못 봤기 때문에 대학교에 못 가요 – Because I did bad on the test, I won’t be able to go to university
핸드폰이 없었기 때문에 연락하지 못했어요 – Because I didn’t have my phone, I couldn’t contact you

future tense = ~는 것 + 이다
(noun) 남자 + 이다 + ~기 때문에
내가 남자이기 때문에 그런 영화를 좋아해 – I like those kinds of movies because I am a man
(noun) 것 + 이다 + ~기 때문에
내가 나중에 먹을 것이 기때문에 지금 먹고 싶지 않아 – Because I am going to eat later, I don’t want to eat now
나는 내년에 대학교에 갈 것이기 때문에 지금 열심히 공부하고 있어 – Because I will be going to university next year, I am studying hard now

Because of noun

일 때문에 나는 너를 못 만날 것 같아 – Because of work, I probably won’t be able to meet you
남자 친구 때문에 새로운 남자를 못 만나 – Because of my boyfriend, I can’t meet another(/new) man
