That’s “It’s so cute.” 너무 예쁘다 is “It’s so pretty” or sometimes people say 이쁘다.

How do u say, i dont want sugar in it? Like im going to korea and wen i go to cafes i wana say that. Is it,” 설댕 아니에요”?
Hi, um I think it would be 설탕 넣지 마세요 = (Please) don’t add/put in sugar, but I am not certain. hinative.com is a great site to ask quick questions like this to native speakers. 🙂
I love your blog! And I have one question, when I use 행복한? 행복하는 and 행복하게?
Thanks. I’m so sorry to say that I don’t know the answer to this. My Korean skills are not yet strong enough that I can explain grammar thoroughly.
I might be wrong but I don’t think 행복하는 is used because when turning a descriptive verb into an adjective you add
~ㄴ or
~은 (~는 if it ends in 있/없)
행복한 is an adjective (happy) and 행복하게 is an adverb (happily)
행복한 기억 = a happy memory
행복하게 살다 = to live happily
I think I slowly start to understand. So do you only use -거/-것 when you ask someone to give you smth, but you don’t say the name (Pls, give me that thing.) & when you ask what smth is? Are these the only situations -거/-것 are used? Thank you so much x
Yeah as you describe you can use it instead of saying the name of something, and it can be used in many situations.^^ 그것 (that thing) can often translate just to “that” or “it” etc. so there are situations where it seems like you could write just 이/그/저 but 것 is added to make it more clear. When you talk about objects use
이/그/저것 to me this/that! I might be wrong but I don’t think there are ever times where you use them one their own, never just “이 주세요” for example (except for 그 which sometimes means “he”).
이 사진 좀 봐요 = Look at this picture.
이것 좀 봐요 = Look at this (thing).
그 영화가 좋았어요 = That film was good.
그것이 좋았어요 = That (thing) was good. It was good
Hi, I’ve started to learn Korean since a month. I’m studying with TTMIK but I stuck with the pronouns & modifiers for the, this, that.. could you help me pls? :)
Hi! I assume you’ve taken the TTMIK lesson on this. I remember being a little confused by it as well when I first learnt but don’t worry, you’ll start to understand it easily as you use it more! This video explains things well. I hope it helps but if it doesn’t let me know and I’ll make some kind of post on it. BTW your blog is so cute >_<
Are you a native speaker or did you learn in school?
I’m a native English speaker self-studying Korean over the internet. 🙂
Hey, hope your having a good day!! I’m just wondering how to decide what to use for your reading practice and if you think webtoons would be good for it?
Thank you I hope you are too! I wish I could help more but I really struggle to find things as well!! I recently started using naver news and just chose by scanning the headlines for words that I understood (basically nothing). I’m sure webtoons are good if you enjoy them I know lots of people do use them to study! I definitely like using children’s books though I’ve only been able to find a few.
I will make a post to share resources for reading practice that I’ve collected so I hope some of them are useful to you. Maybe other people have some suggestions? I’d like to find a couple of blogs or magazine websites but it’s really hard to search for in Korean..
Hi! I really love your blog! I learned a lot! By the way, I’m really curious on how you learn Korean? Do you learn through books? Or just simply learn everything from the internet? And have you taken TOPIK?
I’m really glad it’s helpful 🙂 I’ve learnt everything from the internet. I started by following the Talk To Me in Korean lessons and then started searching for grammar and extra information myself as I got more confident. Following the How to Study Korean lessons alongside TTMIK would probably be really helpful as well. Nowadays I usually just find and study some specific grammar or vocab when it comes up in conversation or I read it somewhere, but I need to get back into regularly taking the lessons!
The toughest thing for me is getting my speaking and listening skills up since I barely practiced those at all for the first year. If you can’t go to a teaching or conversation class then find a language exchange partner. Even when you only know a few words, use them in conversation and do so every time you learn something new. Lang-8 is a great place to meet people to talk to on Skype (it’s also a reallllyy good place to practice writing). There’s also a chat app called hellotalk or the incredibly seedy anonymous chat style site sharedtalk.com which I only recommend if you’re desperate. (If you’re a young female always be wary of gross men on the internet).
I forgot to answer! No I haven’t taken TOPIK. I probably will if I get the chance to actually go Korea. I hate taking exams though I worry it would take the fun out of studying Korean..
