나는 모임에 가입한 이후로 다른 사람이다. = But I’m a different man since I joined group.
내가 태어난 날 이후로 = Since the day I was born.
그때 이후로 줄곧당신이 불평하는소리를들었다 = And ever since then I’ve listened to you complain.
그때 이후 그것은 점점 더 유명하게 되었다. = Since then it has become more and more popular.
그 이후로 뭘 하고 계신가요? = What have you been doing since then?
그날 이후 나는 그를 본 적이 없다 = I’ve never seen him since that day.
그는 학교를 떠난 이후로 은행에서 일해 왔다. = He’s been working in a bank since leaving school.

이래(로) = Since (not commonly used!)
(이래 means down)
응, 우리가 고등학교를 졸업한 이래로 15년이 흘렀지. = Yes, it’s been 15 years since we graduated from high school.
내가 그걸 적은 이래로 수년이 흘렀다 = It’s years since I wrote it.
내가 3살 이래로 = Since I was three years old.

말수가 많다/적다
= talkative/not talkative, quiet
말수 = 사람이 입으로 하는 말의 수효(number)
현실적인 = realistic
짜증스럽다 = annoying
경쟁심이 강하다 = competitive
딱딱하다 = hard, stiff, formal, stiff, dry (물건, 분위기, 말, 글, 수업)
음식점 = eatery, restaurant
직원 = employee, staff
앞치마 = apron
여유(가 있다) = composure, presence; (spare, extra) time/money/space/etc.
입양 = adoption
점수 = score
존경 = respect
이복 형제 = half sibling
Not sure how many of you have seen this already, but I thought I’d share. It’s a spoken word poetry video where Stephanie Yun calls out Koreaboos and their appropriation of the Korean language. And the conclusion is fantastic:
“So, to the f**kers who insist that they’re just appreciating my culture:
Stop treating our language like merchandise from your favourite TV show
Being able to read English subtitles does not make it yours to keep
If you earnestly care about our culture,
Tie up the loose ends in your understanding
And trim the fragmented scraps from your tongue by taking the time to learn our language properly”
